David Robertson awarded British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2021 Birthday Honours.
In January 2017, David Robertson was appointed as the head coach of Real Kashmir FC, an Indian I-League 2nd Division team. Under his leadership, the club achieved a historic promotion to the I-League, making them the first team from Kashmir to reach India’s top-flight football league.
His contribution to Real Kashmir was highlighted in two acclaimed BBC Scotland documentaries, Real Kashmir FC and Return to Real Kashmir FC, which won several prestigious awards, including best documentary at the Scottish BAFTAs and the European Sports Awards.
In recognition of his contributions to the community in Kashmir and fostering UK-India relations, Robertson was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2021 Birthday Honours.
